Taylorsville's Laid-Back Triathlon: Float the River

The Taylorsville Parks and Recreation Committee has put together a new event this year: a Ride, Run, Float Triathlon.

The bike ride/roll portion kicks off the series of three events. Family friendly and noncompetitive, it is scheduled for Saturday, May 14, at 10 a.m. This portion of the triathlon is free and will start at Millrace Park and travel the Jordan River Parkway Trail. Participants will turn around at Little Confluence Park and head back to Millrace Park. This event will not be timed, and participants are encouraged to wear costumes and to decorate their bikes, scooters, rollerblades, skateboards or anything else that rolls down the parkway. Water and snacks will be provided at the finish line.

The run portion of the triathlon is the Taylorsville 5K on June 25 at Valley Regional Park, beginning at 7 a.m.

The last leg of the triathlon is the “Float the River” event scheduled for Saturday, July 16, at 10 a.m. The water portion of the triathlon will start at Millrace Park and travel down the river to Little Confluence Park.  This event will not be timed, and participants can complete this section in their own tube, kayak, inflatable boat, raft, paddle board or canoe. Water and snacks will be provided at the completion of the event.
