Charcoal Portraits Workshop

Presented by Washington City Arts Council at Relief Society Hall

Learn how light and shadows appear on the planes of the face and the forms they make. Then create a portrait using various charcoal mediums (compressed, vine & powdered) and a high contrast photo for reference. This technique is suitable for all skill levels; no previous drawing experience is required. Class size is limited, so register early. Charcoal can be messy, so please dress accordingly.

Supplies are provided. • Ages 15+

Two-day (6-hour) workshop for only $40.

Pay in person at the door via cash or check made out to "Washington City Arts Council."

Instructor Michelle Kurtz is back by request. She has been creating art for over 20 years. Michelle has an MFA in painting and drawing and has taught Drawing, 2D Design, and 3D Design at Dixie State University for nine years. She is currently an art instructor at Southern Utah University, and she loves teaching and inspiring artists.
