Live Poetry with Kate Gale and Katharine Coles

Hosted by City Art, join poets Katharine Coles and Kate Gale for an evening of fierce, moving, and profound poetry at the Salt Lake City Public Library! Katharine Coles’ eleven books include Wayward, poems from Red Hen Press; a memoir, Look Both Ways; and a collection of essays, The Stranger I Become: on Walking, Looking, and Writing. 2018-19 Poet-in-Residence at the Natural History Museum of Utah and the Salt Lake Public Library for the Poets House FIELD WORK program, she has received awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the National Science Foundation’s Antarctic Artists and Writers Program, and from the Guggenheim Foundation. She is a Distinguished Professor at the University of Utah.

Dr. Kate Gale is co-founder and Managing Editor of Red Hen Press, Editor of the Los Angeles Review, and she teaches in the Low Residency MFA program at the University of Nebraska in Poetry. She is author of seven books of poetry including The Loneliest Girl (University of New Mexico Press, 2022), The Goldilocks Zone (University of New Mexico Press, 2014) and Echo Light (Red Mountain, 2014) and six librettos including Rio de Sangre, a libretto for an opera with composer Don Davis, which had its world premiere October 2010 at the Florentine Opera in Milwaukee.
