Learn the basic elements of oil painting from an experienced artist in this two-day workshop. Bring your own reference photos to create a painting unique to you. Jerome Quenneville will be there to guide you every step of the way.
OBJECTIVE: To help participants understand drawing, value, composition, color, and edges. The main elements of “realistic” art.
Day 1: Demonstration of drawing, composition, and values. Work on paintings from your own reference photos. Bring one black and white and one color photo of the same subject at least 8x10 inches.
Day 2: Demonstration of color and edges. Colorize your monochrome paintings. Discuss finishing a painting, varnish, and framing.
Art supplies will be provided • Limit 20 participants • Ages 15 and up
INSTRUCTOR BIO: Jerome Quenneville has an Associate’s Degree in Arts and Crafts with an emphasis on ceramics and painting. He spent 25 years on the design staff of Ford Motor Company as a clay modeler. From 2018–2020 he traveled through the British Isles, India, Israel, Egypt, and Europe, painting along the way. Now that he is settled in St. George, Utah he plans to “continue painting everything that brings me joy and light so that I can share that joy and light with all of you.”
