This performance will blend narration with a performance of treasured masterpieces written by Sergei Rachmaninoff by the American Piano Duo.

The year 2023 marks the sesquicentennial celebration of Rachmaninoff. Rachmaninoff’s contribution to the two-piano repertoire spans his entire career, from his time as a distinguished student at the Moscow Conservatory to his final years in America.  His duo-piano writing is of the highest order and sounds as if it were the only possible medium for the music.

Jeffrey Shumway and Del Parkinson have been a piano duo team since 1984.  Born and raised in Idaho, they first met at the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition and later studied together at The Juilliard School.  Both earned doctorates in piano with high honors from Indiana University.
