Browning Presents: Ballet Folclórico Guadalajara

Browning Presents: Ballet Folclórico Guadalajara

Presented by Weber State University Lindquist College of Arts and Humanities at Val A. Browning Center for the Performing Arts

México en el Corazón, which has been performing for seven years, is internationally recognized for preserving and spreading the traditions and dances of Mexico in venues throughout North America. This year’s tour includes stops in Las Vegas, Portland, Denver and California.

Local venues provide support to make each performance free to the community. The Ogden stop is sponsored by the Ogden College Town Coalition, Latinos United Promoting Education and Civic Engagement (LUPEC), Rancho Markets Ogden, and Weber State’s College of Arts & Humanities Browning Presents!

“Weber State is honored to host Guadalajara’s Ballet Folklórico and Mariachi Femenil Estrella de México for another stunning performance, said WSU President Brad Mortensen. “At Weber State, we promote belonging, creativity, uniqueness and self-expression. We are excited to promote those qualities as México en el Corazón shares its rich traditions and dances with our community.”

The North American Institute for Mexican Advancement (NAIMA) sponsors Guadalajara's Ballet Folclórico and Mariachi Femenil Estrella de México with the goal of building bridges between countries and improving the lives of the Mexican community across North America through educational, civic, social and economic development initiatives.

Luis Lopez, executive director for community education and outreach with WSU's Division of Online & Continuing Education, said that Ogden and the northern Utah community are sure to benefit from the world-renowned dance group and mariachi group’s visit.

"All cultures win with this presentation," he said. "This event will resonate throughout our great community. It will elevate Hispanic cultural pride while helping other groups appreciate the best that Mexico has to offer."

Weber State is committed to building vibrant community relationships with a focus on equity and inclusion. As part of the visit, local talent will join the show, helping integrate the immigrant community.

“México en el Corazón will bring a rich cultural experience to those who attend,” said Deborah Uman, dean of the Lindquist College of Arts & Humanities. “Their talent and goals align perfectly with the vision of Browning Presents!”
