Would you like to make abstract art but are not sure how to get started? You will

experience several exercises designed to get you thinking about

the elements: form, space, shape, line, color, value, texture—and execute

compositions that evoke emotion. You will learn to allow yourself to let go of

control and surrender to the painting—to develop your instincts and launch into

your painting with a concept or a narrative.

Abstract art enables the artist to perceive beyond the tangible,

to extract the infinite out of the finite. Abstraction is the emancipation of

the mind—an exploration into unknown areas. Its roots are in the intuition

of the artist and freedom for the artist as well as for the viewer. All

experience levels welcome. Another way you get value for your membership.

Colleen Gianatiempo is a mixed media abstract artist. She will teach you

how to mix materials and mediums—which is all part of the fun!
