Craft Lake City Workshop: Cyanotype Printmaking on Fabric & Paper

Craft Lake City Workshop: Cyanotype Printmaking on Fabric & Paper

Presented by Craft Lake City and Natural History Museum of Utah at Natural History Museum of Utah

Learn the art of cyanotype printing at this beginner-friendly class with local artist & herbalist Sunny Smith of Temple O Flora! Cyanotype, or sun printing, is a simple, enjoyable way to connect with your creativity and the natural world. Utilizing found objects, pressed botanicals and other texturally interesting items, this workshop will provide a solid introduction to the history and technique of the cyanotype process. Join us as we create 4-5 one-of-a-kind prints on paper using the traditional 19th century cyanotype method as well as the exciting and unpredictable “wet cyanotype” process. We will also be applying the skills we’ve acquired to design and print a beautiful canvas zipper pouch. Finally, you will take home several prepared papers, allowing you to produce more unique prints with plants and found objects you gather on your own. No experience is required (beginners welcome!) & all materials are provided.
