This workshop is about learning to paint the human form from life in oil paint. By working directly from a live model, learn to master the challenges of gesture, posture, and expression. Through demonstration and one-on-one guidance, students will learn fundamental techniques for capturing accurate proportions and anatomy, dynamic interplay of light and shadow, and color mixing and blending to create vibrant skin tones.
*Heather Olsen's workshop includes 2 days of oil-painting, from 10am-4pm at Visual Art Institute in South Salt Lake. Easels will be readily available in the classroom for student use. Students are responsible to bring their own paints, brushes, solvents, and painting surfaces.

1 Small/medium size canvas or panel (around 8x10”, 9x12”, 11x14”, 16x20") Medium and small flat brushes Paint thinner (recommend odorless, such as Turpenoid) + a jar Poppy seed oil paper towels Palette Palette knife
Oil paint colors: Titanium White, Cadmium Yellow, Yellow Ochre, Burnt Sienna, Cadmium Red, Alizarin Crimson, Phthalo Green, Phthalo or Prussian Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Burnt Umber, and Ivory Black
