Kintsugi Healing Group

Presented by South Salt Lake Arts Council at South Salt Lake Community Co-Op

Has grief, loss, and hardship broken your heart open? Kintsugi is a technique that symbolizes healing and resilience. This group will work on embracing strength and beauty after the loss of a loved one. In your brokenness you can be stronger, more precious, and beautiful. Join us for a healing experience using the Kintsugi art process and incorporating mindfulness, writing exercises, and group support.

Kintsugi (金継ぎ, "golden joinery"), also known as kintsukuroi (金繕い, "golden repair"), is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum; the method is similar to the maki-e technique. As a philosophy, it treats breakage  and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise (Source: "Kintsugi." Wikipedia).

Kintsugi will be held in Room 111, The Art Room, at the Columbus Center Opportunity Center (Co-op), located at 2530 South 500 East, South Salt Lake, UT  84115.
