The Next Draft | Writing Workshop with Brenda Miller and Rick Barot

Presented by The King's English Bookshop at The King's English Bookshop

Are you a writer? Poet? Artist? Come to The King's English Bookshop to participate in a workshop to hone your writing skills!

The Next Draft: Inspiring Craft Talks from the Rainier Writing Workshop brings together a selection of the “morning talks” delivered by the renowned authors who teach at the prestigious Rainier Writing Workshop MFA program. These morning talks are a highlight of the residencies at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington, featuring inspiring, innovative approaches to writing and literature across genres. The Next Draft brings to life the kind of intellectual and creative excitement that underlies the intensive MFA experience at Pacific Lutheran University. Not only do these talks show innovative approaches to writing and literature across genres, they inspire the reader to think about how to read differently and thus bring their own work to a new level.

Brenda Miller, who selected the essays featured in this collection, will join collaborator and poet Rick Barot, who directs The Rainier Writing Workshop, to guide participants through a 50-minute workshop. Share great ideas while doing some engaging writing, get feedback, and leave feeling inspired!

Registration is required for the workshop. Ticket price is "pay what you can" benefitting our non-profit, Brain Book Books.

Miller and Barot will be doing a public reading and signing immediately following the workshop at 6pm. The reading and signing is free to attend and does not require registration. Copies of their books will be available for purchase at the event. If you cannot make this event, signed copies may be ordered from our website. Please specify in the comments if you would like your copy personalized. Places in the signing line are reserved for those who purchase a copy from The King's English.
