Essie Soul: Never Let Me Go

Essie Soul: Never Let Me Go

Presented by Under the Umbrella Bookstore at Under the Umbrella Bookstore

“Never Let Me Go" is a photography book that features candid and intimate moments of our community members and their loved ones shot on-location in their homes.

The inspiration behind this project stemmed from my desire to document candid moments of intimacy and love shared between partners, best friends, family members, spouses, and so on. I am grateful for the opportunity to have been welcomed into the private spaces of so many people, and to have witnessed their rawest emotions. The emotions conveyed in these images are relatable to us all - the longing to feel secure at home with our loved ones, the yearning to be embraced and loved unconditionally, the solace found in moments of heartbreak, and the reassurance of being cherished.

Never let me go by Essie Soul will be released on March 23rd, 2024. Please join me that day for a book launch event from 2-4PM at Under the Umbrella Bookstore. The event is free and open to the public.

You can find Essie at Essieshaw.com and @essiedolly.

This project was made possible by an artist support grant from The Salt Lake City Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.
