ENTER THE REEL ROCK UNIVERSE

For two decades, Reel Rock has been sharing the biggest stories from the world of climbing, celebrating the human side behind the sport's greatest adventures and achievements. Every year, Reel Rock brings a new selection of the best climbing films on tour worldwide and through our new streaming platform, Reel Rock Unlimited. Founded in 2005 by Josh Lowell, Peter Mortimer, and Nick Rosen - creators of the iconic feature documentaries Valley Uprising, The Dawn Wall, and The Alpinist - Reel Rock has grown into the premier global platform for award-winning climbing films.

Sachi Amma in With My Heart - Follow the philosophical journey of Japanese climbing phenom Scahi Amma as he evolves from three-time world champion to radiation climbing purist, culminating in a visionary first ascent of the mythical Mt. Mizugaki. (30 min)
Angie Scarth-Johnson & Hazel Findlay in Yeah Buddy - Australian climber Angie Scarth-Johnson, who first made her mark setting records at a young age, teams up with veteran adventure climber Hazel Findlay to explore the best of Mallorca’s deep-water soloing. (25 min)
Josh Wharton & Vince Anderson in Jirishanca - Renowned alpinists Josh Wharton and Vince Anderson attempt a free ascent of the Jirishanca, an epic 20,000-foot peak in the Peruvian Andes. The duo will have to tackle 5.13 face climbing, horizontal ice roofs, technical mixed terrain, and treacherous snow mushrooms as they reconcile the inherent risk of climbing with their love of alpine adventure. (40 min)
Matt Groom & Danyil Boldyrev in Climbing Never Die - Climbing journalist Matt Groom journeys deep into war-torn Ukraine to discover a community held together by climbing and patriotism but indelibly changed by war. (35 min)

Silent Auction: All proceeds from the silent auction will support our 2024 Nepal Service Learning Trip; see more details below!

WSU Outdoor Program is taking 16 (students, faculty/staff, and the general public) to Nepal this Spring! We are joining the awesome folks from the Apa Sherpa Foundation (ASF) to conduct a service learning trip in the Khumbu region of Nepal. Apa, a former world record-holding mountaineer and local legend, started this foundation to support local children, schools, and monasteries in the hope that the children of the mountains can stay in school and keep hold of the agency of their futures. We are excited to continue to support Apa's mission throughout our work on the trip.

We will utilize local guides and porters on a trek to Everest Base Camp, but with many stops that most trekking groups still need to take. Our group will be visiting the schools supported by the foundation, bringing them textbooks and supplies, and checking on the operations of the current projects, such as the hot lunch program in Ghat. When we visit Apa's home village of Thame, our group will be doing two days of manual labor service projects in the school, Monastery, and the farms of local villagers.

Any support we raise for this trip will support our Sherpa guides and porters. Porters are historically overworked and underpaid and need to be given resources for the harsh weather that can occur in the mountains. Funds raised (through donations or auction items) will be used to secure practical gifts for the Sherpa team, like jackets and socks, and/or to give them money directly to support their livelihood in the mountains.
