St. George Jazz: Love & Fusion

St. George Jazz: Love & Fusion

Presented by Kayenta Arts Foundation at Center for the Arts at Kayenta

The St George Jazz All-Stars is the finest collection of jazz talent in the region. Established in 2010, the Jazz All-Stars sample from classic styles of the past including mainstream jazz, cool jazz, bebop, and hard bop. They also explore contemporary styles and approaches to jazz.

The St George Jazz All-Stars is led by vibraphonist Glenn Webb. Studying drums and percussion with leading teachers and performers in Las Vegas allowed Webb to play his first jazz gig at the Frontier Hotel at the age of 12. Now decades later, Webb is a central figure in the southern Utah jazz scene. He directs the jazz program at Utah Tech University and is the Artistic Director of the St George Jazz Festival. He received his Doctor of Musical Arts from UNLV. Featured vocalist with the group is Joey Forte. Joey is a graduate of Utah Tech and has worked with vocal coaches and producers in southern California. He has a growing collection of original recordings available on YouTube and all streaming platforms. Joey’s style emulates the crooners of the past to the comfort of contemporary and pop styles of today. Forte’s performances with the Jazz All-Stars and the Rebel Jazz Band continue to wow audiences and bring new listeners to this beautiful music.

The Jazz All-Stars also include trumpeter Rob Schmidt, saxophonist Matt Towsey, bassist Robbie Matheson, guitarist Chad Roundy, drummer Jay Nygaard, and percussionist Ro Webb. Each of them is a professional artist dedicated to the perpetuation and advancement of jazz and having it be a vibrant part of our culture.
