Digi-Lab introduces students to the basics of creating art with digital based methods.
Digi-Lab introduces students to the basics of creating art with digital based methods. In this course we will be using technology including iPads, Mac Computers, 3D Printers (ELEGOO), Laser Cutters (Glowforge), and Vinyl Cutters (Cricut). Students will be designing and creating their ideas using Ipads we provide with an accompanying apple pencil for ease of use. Students will become familiar with Nomad (3D Modeling) and Procreate (General Drawing) applications used on the iPad. If Students have these applications, iPad, and Apple Pencil, they are more than welcome to bring their own equipment. Students can expect to complete at least three main projects.
1. Laser Cutter project. This project is where students can learn the capabilities of the laser cutter for engraving images and cutting through acceptable material. This project may be expanded into several projects where materials can be layered to form a scene or whimsical creature from the students imagination.
2. Sticker Project. Students will be able to design a sticker from scratch using their own ideas. They will design the sticker in Procreate. From there we will incorporate different methods to format and layout the stickers for cutting on the Cricut cutting machines.
3. 3D Printing Project. In Nomad, an application on the Ipad, we will be working to design a 3D object. The object that we create in the digital space is possible to become a real object through the help of a 3D Printer. We will be using a resin printer which uses a UV hardening liquid to create highly detailed objects.
If you are interested in any of these opportunities, Digi-lab is worth getting a hands on look at what is possible with digital creation. We look forward to having you there!
