Joe Machnik graduated from the University of Utah with a Ph.D. in Parks, Recreation, and Leisure Studies in 1973. He has been an active member of professional soccer for 65+ years and seen the sport from the perspective of a player, coach, referee, administrator, match commissioner, and broadcaster. Known widely as “Dr. Joe,” he is an expert in the details and rules of the game.
