Dino Days in Dixie is celebrated each year at the St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site to celebrate the discovery of the site and encourage everyone to see the continuing changes at the museum. This year, the Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held May 5 at 5:00 PM. This will be an introduction to the Dino Park area of the museum as well as to a new life restoration, made specifically for the museum, of a Protosuchus, the small crocodilian whose tracks are found at the site. The Dino Park area has been added as a space for more hands-on activities, especially for children. The recent addition of a shade structure, a track-making area, a dino tracks climb-in box, and cement-embedded fossils will add to the uses of the area. During the week-long celebration, there will be free handouts, coloring pages, mazes, and crossword puzzles. There will also be crafts on Saturday, May 10.
Events are also being coordinated with the St. George branch of the Washington County Library, where children read and then report on dinosaur literature.
