Join April Bolz, Tonii Humphrey, Kyle Luntz, and Steve Thueson, graduates from the University of Utah’s Printmaking Program, as they show off their newest, freshest, work at Saltgrass Printmakers. Join April, Tonii, Kyle and Steve as they demonstrate screen printing techniques utilizing Kyle Luntz’s Light/Sound Sequencer – a generative music tool that arranges sounds based on visual compositions. They will be creating prints and playing the experimental music produced during the demonstration from their images. Each with their individual approach to the art of printmaking, these emerging artists tackle a broad range of contemporary issues and conceptual investigations.
April Bolz explores the connection between desert landscapes both familiar to her and imagined by her. Compiling memories and imaginings of harsh desert-scapes she creates her own layered abstract landscapes using relief printing, screen-printing and laser etching.
Tonii Humphrey’s work is based around photographs he takes while exploring different destinations. He collages these images to understand how a visitor may take in unfamiliar information around them.
Kyle Luntz’s work focuses on the relationships between sound, light, and human perception. Using technology to attempt to expose the sensorial crossover necessary for us all to find patterns and associations in a world of vibrations. He substitutes light and sound to demonstrate the fluid nature of our experiences
Steve Thueson’s works primarily in intaglio and relief printing. His prints deal with themes of religion, anxiety, and contemporary life, as funneled through demonology, cartoon characters, and punk music.
Don't miss this event! You will be wowed by the widest range of printmaking techniques you ever did see. Awe at the sight of multiple layer screen prints, intaglio, relief, lithography, digital printing, and pieces that dive headfirst into the third dimension!
