The Journey

The Journey

Presented by Tanner Dance at Kingsbury Hall - University of Utah

The Journey features dancers ages five to adult in a heartfelt and beautiful exploration of the imagination of a young dreaming girl. She yearns to explore faraway places and finds exciting adventures in store.

From the beautiful, classically elegant McCune mansion to our lovely, spacious, and grand new home in The Beverley Taylor Sorenson Arts and Education Complex, this has been a journey that spans decades, and has seen hundreds of thousands of feet dancing along the way. We remind our students each week that “every step is a dance” and this striking quote by Barbara De Angelis beautifully reflects that sentiment:

“The Journey between who you once were, and who you are now becoming, is where the dance of life really takes place.” Each step is a dance along the path toward each dancer sharing and opening themselves to the exquisiteness that is stored within them. For as dancers, we know it is about the journey as well as the destination.

The Journey is shared and created by our studio faculty and dancers. They have each designed their own journey and learned much along the way. This fully produced concert features dancers ages five to adult from the Virginia Tanner Creative Dance Program in a heartfelt and beautiful exploration of the imagination of a young dreaming girl. She yearns to explore faraway places and finds exciting adventures in store.
