The Family of Things

The Family of Things

Presented by Utah Division of Arts and Museums at Alice Gallery at the Glendinning Home

Join us for Gallery Stroll Friday, May 16th from 6-9pm

The exhibition, The Family of Things, takes its title and inspiration from the poem Wild Geese by Mary Oliver. Artist, Ron Linn states, “Many of our most significant experiences have come from our encounters–whether fleeting or durational–with the natural sublime, and we have found our art shaped and informed by the vast wilderness which surrounds us. The landscape is in many ways a mirror, reflecting back to us our dreams and desires; it becomes what we wish it to be, laden with meaning and metaphor, even as we ourselves are merely passers-by in an unbroken line of deep time and slow progression. Yet still we make the pilgrimage again and again, to visit the land and to discover ourselves. This show marks an effort by us to find those parts of ourselves that are evident within the natural world, and to make sense of our presence there.” Artists include: Mary Baum, Tiana Birrell, Ronald Linn, Hannah Mortensen, and Jena Schmidt exhibiting works in painting, photography and video.
