Viewing the Sun's brilliant face is extraordinary. One can see a sunspot grouping or watch a prominence build and fly off the perimeter, but few people have witnessed these occurrences because we cannot look directly at the sun. However, this Saturday the Salt Lake Astronomical Society will have solar scopes set up at Winchester Park. The public is invited to view the sun in safety with our special solar filters. It is free and family friendly. Weather permitting, of course.
Remember, never view the Sun directly with the naked eye or with any unfiltered optical device, such as binoculars or a telescope as serious eye damage can occur!
