Noises Off

Noises Off

Presented by Midvale Arts Council at Midvale Performing Arts Center

Sardines, bags and even more sardines and bags abound on the stage as this hysterical farce, Noises Off, gives patrons a sneak peek behind the scenes of this play within a play!

Michael Frayn wrote this two-time Tony Award Nominated farce while he was watching a comedy from backstage. What he watched backstage was indeed funnier than what was going on onstage, and the idea was born to give the audience a glimpse of what happens to actors backstage during a show. In 1982 it became an immediate hit and now the Midvale Performing Arts Center brings this comical hilarity to its stage.

The first act starts out with dress rehearsal for the British farce: Nothing On. The cast struggles to get through the rehearsal showing the audience what most productions go through to put on a show. **Please note there are scenes where actors are wearing tasteful lingerie and boxers, and some adult language will be used throughout the show. Please use parental judgment, if concerned about content.

The second act is performed from the perspective of “backstage.” The cast has now been running the show for quite some time and are, quite literally, sick of each other. This sends the cast and crew into a frenzy of extreme measures, which gives the audience even bigger laughs as the show moves along.

The third and final act once again transforms back to the front of the stage and is the last night of the British farce: Nothing On. The cast continues to struggle in even bigger proportions due to the fallout from backstage and the audience gets to relish in this debacle.

This production of Noises Off features Director Aaron Sparks, and also showcases the amazing onstage talents of: Carrie Simper, Chris Kucera, Scott Millet, McKenzie Stanworth, Megan Smyth, Madman Madriaga, Nichole Keddington, Mark Hanson and Dain Percifield.
