Know Your Rights

Presented by Salt Lake City Office of the Mayor and ACLU of Utah at Sorenson Unity Center

Salt Lake City invites the public to a free event featuring ACLU Utah on March 18, 2015 from 06:00 PM to 08:00 PM at Sorenson Unity Center (1383 South 900 West).

The evening will begin with a brief presentation with John Mejia from ACLU Utah on Know Your Rights When Encountering Law Enforcement. Most of the evening will be spent in dialogue about police use of force. http://www.acluutah.org/about-us/people/item/16-john-mejia-legal-director.

Salt Lake City government officials recognize that there is a concern in the community about officer-involved shootings and other use of force issues. The dialogue series will convene interested community members, policy makers and subject matter experts for meaningful discussion of the issues associated with force, and in particular, officer-involved shootings. The dialogue series will be a constructive way to promote conversation among interested stakeholders to assess perceived needs, problems, and hopes for the future for Salt Lake City on this challenging issue.
