The Utah Museum of Contemporary Art (UMOCA) is pleased to present the newest Street Gallery exhibition, Adjunct.
United States adjunct instructors make up 65% of the university teaching workforce. On average, however, an adjunct instructor with equal credentials earns a third less than their tenured counterparts. Many take on a larger class load at multiple institutions in order to make a livable wage. Some work semester by semester, not knowing if they will be invited to teach consistently. With the proliferation of graduate programs in all areas of study around the country, universities are, essentially, creating their own low-wage workforce.
