Join us in Midway (home of Swiss Days) on July 3rd and 4th for Midway’s Small Town Fourth celebration. Featured will be Utah’s largest Plein Air Art Competition, Exhibit, Sale and Auction, an early-morning flag raising ceremony, pancake breakfast, heritage home tours of early pioneer homes, a presentation of early pioneer artifacts and a humorous discussion of their actual uses, a slide show of early photographs of mining in Wasatch County, an once-a-year opportunity to tour Tom Whitaker’s Cowboy museum featuring cowboy, calvary, mining and Native American artifacts, a display of photographs entitled “Chasing the Light” by six emerging Wasatch County photographers, and an outdoor melodrama theater put on by kids.
All events are free and all events occur in beautiful downtown Midway with its clean mountain air and Small Town Main Street dotted with early pioneer homes, including “gingerbread” brick homes with fancy white eaves, gables and pictoresque lattice-work porches.
The Midway Arts Association will sponsor Utah’s largest Plein Air Paradise with street painters from June 26 through July 3rd and an exhibition and sale of the paintings at the Midway Town Hall from July 1 through 4. Info at the official website.
To complete your get-away, High Valley Arts will present “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” at 8 p.m. on July 3rd in a beautiful outdoor theater. Tickets are available at www.HighValleyArts.org
