Third Saturday for Families: Patterned Tapa Cloth

Third Saturday for Families: Patterned Tapa Cloth

Presented by Utah Museum of Fine Arts at Utah Museum of Fine Arts

Tapa, or bark cloth, is one of the most widely recognized art forms in the Pacific Islands. This textile, made from the soft inner bark of the mulberry tree, is used in ceremonies, clothing, and mask-making. The Pacific Island collection of objects and sculptures will inspire your tapa cloth-like designs on paper.
