Palace Playhouse was started as an advanced theater Program for Box Elder High school by Fontelle Messervy over 35 years ago. It has been an off campus program for most of its existence. This year the Fine Arts Center that has housed the Palace Program since 1999, has agreed to help keep the tradition alive when cuts in art education funds and a change in school theater philosophy threatened to discontinue it. The Fine Arts Center’s goal is to maintain the same high quality theater experience and education the program has offered over the years. A testimony to the past value of the program is the high number of alumni becoming theater educators and/or leaders in their fields of choice.
