The Beehive Statesmen Barbershop Chorus utilizes the rich sounds of four-part men’s a cappella singing in the barbershop harmony style to please and thrill audiences of all ages. The chorus was organized in 1949, and has provided musical instruction and entertainment to a wide variety of audiences for over 62 years.

The Chorus is a part of the Barbershop Harmony Society (formerly SPEBSQSA) and is a non-profit organization. The chorus is affiliated with the Salt Lake County Zoo, Arts, and Parks (ZAP) program, and performs for all kinds of activities in the local area. The Chorus presents a Spring Show, usually in early May, and a Christmas Show in early December each year. They are also available to sing for the public and for various other activities such as conventions, meetings, and such.

Their current membership is near 40 singers, and they can also provide smaller ensembles that will fit any venue. Their motto is: “Have Risers, Will Travel.” The Beehive Statesmen Chorus is directed by Beth Bruce, a talented musician with many years of barbershop and choral directing experience. Beth also sings with, and helps direct, the Mountain Jubilee Chorus, an affiliate of the Sweet Adelines, Inc., a women’s barbershop organization.

The chorus rehearses weekly at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center in West Valley City (1355 West 3100 South-enter from Redwood road) on every Wednesday evening at 6:30pm, either in room #104 or in the stage area. Guests are always welcome. Especially all men who love to sing, would be interested in learning barbershop harmony, and want to help provide great musical entertainment.
