The Utah Society for Environmental Education (USEE) is the statewide leader in promoting high-quality environmental education in the Beehive State.  USEE is the Utah Affiliate of the North American Association for Environmental Education. As part of this robust network we work to elevate the field of environmental education along with 56 partner affiliates and over 150,000 educators.

USEE is nearly 40 years old but environmental education is more relevant now than ever before. A recent study by the Outdoor Foundation indicates that nearly half of all Americans don’t recreate outdoors. We understand that a strong connection to nature is vital to the health of our children and our communities. USEE actively works to deepen these connections by understanding the field of environmental education in Utah and providing the resources and tools to educators to make our field more robust and relevant. USEE strives to make the field of environmental education more equitable and accessible for all and advocates on behalf of sound environmental education policy.

Our Mission
USEE promotes excellence in environmental education and community engagement to connect all Utahns to their natural world.

Our Vision
A culture of environmental literacy, knowledge and action to create a sustainable future for Utah.

Our Work
We work to elevate environmental education in Utah through these actions:

offering professional development for all educators
hosting the annual Utah Environmental Education Conference
presenting our award program to honor excellence in the field of environmental education
hosting the Utah Green Schools and Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools programs
lifting up the missions of our member and partner organizations
by being a voice for environmental education and sound EE policy
by working to develop an Environmental Literacy Plan for the state of Utah
by working to center equity in the field of EE to ensure our field is accessible for all.
