OUR MISSION
To promote humanistic inquiry and exchange by supporting innovative scholarly projects and creating opportunities for interaction among scholars, students, and lifelong learners.

OUR PROGRAMS
For over twenty-five years, the Obert C. and Grace A. Tanner Humanities Center at the University of Utah has offered fellowships, lectures, events, and programs that create opportunities for research, lively dialogue, and reflection among scholars, students, K-12 educators, and the general public. Advancing research and knowledge in the humanities is central to our mission. We offer faculty and student fellowships, sponsor research projects and interest groups, hold a work-in-progress lecture series, facilitate international professor exchanges, and direct a Mormon Studies Initiative.

In recent years, our Center has been dedicated to serving as a bridge between “town and gown” and helping elevate local conversations about humanities topics. We have provided local residents access to national and international artists and speakers and research-driven conversations and connected faculty and students to the issues and organizations that shape our community.
