Artist Florence Maurine Truelson’s early work depicted scenes of early pioneer history. Later work was fantastical and complex. Truelson became an eccentric loner living in a shack she built on the west side of Salt Lake City. Eventually, she was committed as a patient of the state mental hospital in Provo. In 1959, she wandered off one night and died of exposure.
