Born in Gruenhainichen, Germany this fine, sensitive sculptor and photographer first studied under the master woodcarver, Emil Helbig at the age of 14. She worked with fabricated and cast metal, and with resin-maché construction processes, with numerous large commissions to her credit. After World War II, she continued her studies at a division of the Berlin Academy of Art. Craig emigrated to the U.S. in the mid-1950s, and eventually became a professional photographer. In 1979 she returned to sculpture, and had considerable success, particularly with her popular dancing figures.
