Salt Lake City native Lark Lucas began art study at the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles. In 1957, she earned a BS degree and teaching certificate in art at the University of Utah. Later, she added an MA in art education from the University of New Mexico, where she also taught. She was active in the Utah art world until her husband’s death in 1972, after which she pursued her art career in earnest, teaching and making art in various media. In the mid-1970s she was introduced to ceramic tile painting, which led to the first of many ceramic tile mural commissions in Utah and the West. She now teaches in the Osher Lifelong Learning program at the University of Utah.
