Perova studied art in the former Soviet Union. She received her Master of Fine Arts degree in 1985 and her Doctorate in 1989, from the Repin Academy of Art in St. Petersburg. She emigrated to the United States and maintains a studio in Salt Lake City. Perova has become widely admired and successful as a painter of still life, portraits, and the landscape of the American West.
