Wassmer was a Utah artist and art patron who studied at the University of Utah, in New York at the Art Students League, and elsewhere. Wassmer studied under noted Utah artists Frank Zimbeaux and Florence Ware. He was active as an artist in New York from 1945 until 1985, and then returned to Salt Lake City, where he remained active as an artist until his death at 96.
