Harold “Hal” Longmore Burrows was a close associate of Mahonri Young and Waldo Midgley. He studied with Young, Robert Henri and Walt Kuhn in New York City between 1907 and 1912. Becoming particularly skilled in watercolor, the artist was a career-long member of the New York Watercolor Club. Following World War I, when he worked as a staff artist for the original Stars and Stripes newspaper in Paris, Burrows joined the MGM motion picture studio, and remained there as an art director until 1958.
