Printmaker Caroline Renn-Pinger was born in a mining town in New Jersey. On her first trip to Europe in 1955, she was inspired by the graphic art of the German Expressionists, particularly their woodcuts. This experience led her to study art history, painting, and graphics at the University of Utah from 1957 until about 1960. She continued her studies at the Art Students League and the Pratt Graphic Art Center in New York. In 1960 she moved to Munich, and in 1962 to West Berlin, where she married and made her home. Over the last fifty years, Renn-Pinger has had solo and group exhibitions of her prints in Salt Lake City, Reno, Hamburg, Berlin, and elsewhere in Germany.
