Born in Elko, Nevada, Farrar studied illustration and earned a BFA degree at Brigham Young University. She is a color impressionist painter of landscape and figure works sometimes on religious themes, and a mixed-media artist. She is also Sophie Soprano, an artist who may or may not exist, and whose paintings are not so serious, and meant to be smiled at.
