Kathryn Stats was born in Pocatello, Idaho. She paints impressionistic landscapes which emphasize reflected light and atmospheric perspective. Although primarily self-taught as an artist, Stats attended the University of Utah and studied with LeConte Stewart, Ken Baxter, and Harrison Groutage. Her subjects range from desert landscapes to winter snow in the Wasatch mountains.
