John Williams Wood is an abstractionist painter and pastel artist. He studied at Weber State College and the University of Utah, and then went on to earn an MFA at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in 1974. Wood was an art teacher at Judge Memorial Catholic High School from 1976 until he departed for New York City. By the mid-1980s, he was back in Salt Lake City. At present, the artist lives in Oakland, California.
