Rings of Fire

Rings of Fire is Meehan’s response to the area and the College’s focus on natural resources and geology. The artist has created an icon that speaks to education, setting goals and achieving success through academic achievement. The lighted flame is visible from the all over campus and from the high school nearby. Etched on the base is the following attributed to Victor Hugo: “The true division of humanity is between those who live in light and those who live in darkness. Our aim must be to diminish the number of the latter and increase the number of the former…that is why we demand education and knowledge.”
