Born in Whitney, Idaho, Allen now resides in Logan, Utah. She earned an MFA degree from Utah State University in 1981. While there, she was influenced by the noted painter, Chen Chi. She is known for her flower and landscape subjects in the oil and watercolor; her work tends toward a distilled presentation of nature.
