In 1985, after fifteen years as a banking executive, Utah native John Mortensen abandoned that field and turned his sculpture hobby into a full-time career. He left Salt Lake City to establish a studio and home in Wilson, Wyoming, where he creates and sells small scale equine and Western themed bronzes. Mortensen has also completed more than twenty large-scale projects for clients including Disneyworld, Hogle Zoo and Westminster College. His bronzes are in museum collections, including the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody, Wyoming, the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson, Wyoming, and Utah’s Springville Art Museum.
