John Brent Jarvis was born in American Fork, Utah. As a successful, traditional painter of landscapes and figures, gouache and watercolor are his preferred media for his work. Jarvis received an art scholarship and attended Snow College where he earned an AS in 1965, followed by a BS in fishery and biology, with a minor in art, from Utah State University in 1971.
