Utah painter Herald George Miller was born in Salt Lake City and began his art study at the University of Utah. He later attended the Art Center School in Los Angeles. He first worked as an artist for the Salt Lake Telegram, and then in the 1930s was an advertising illustrator for the ZCMI department store. During World War II, he served as a camouflage instructor. After a short time in New York City, he returned to Salt Lake City in 1951 to open an advertising art studio. Throughout, he continued as a fine art painter, and was an active member of the Utah Watercolor Society. His work is held in institutional, corporate and private collections.
