Dueling Art is a collaboration between Walt Hunter, an older man from a middle-class family from Providence, Rhode Island; and Jesus Hernandez Silva, a young man born in Mexico and raised in Midvale. The two met in 2001 when Hunter worked as a Gang Prevention Specialist. What began for the two as an awkward and uncomfortable relationship has become more like a father/son affair through the process they refer to as Dueling Art. Each in turn would lay down marks on paper until a subject emerged. The process began with a dialogue of stories dealing with poignant topics such as childhood memories, relationships, racism, regret and death.
