J. (James) Roman Andrus of St. George and Provo was a painter, educator, printmaker, wood-carver, draftsman, and art administrator. He studied at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles (1934-39) and Brigham Young University, where he earned his BS in 1942 and MS in 1943. During his many years in art education he served as chair of the BYU art department from 1953-56 and 1958-74.
