Henri Moser was born in Wabern, Switzerland. In 1881, his family moved to Bern. Later, the Moser family became converts to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1888, the family emigrated to America and finally settled in Logan, Utah. Moser studied at Utah State Agriculture College (Utah State University) and pursued further studies with noted painter A. B. Wright at Brigham Young University. In 1910, Moser studied at the Academy Collarossi in Paris and was one of the first Utah painters to work in a modern, post-Impressionist manner. He is considered an important part of Utah art history, yet he never generated a strong following by local collectors in his lifetime.
