Salt Lake artist Edward J. Bateman received his M.F.A. from the University of Utah and is an assistant professor in the Department of Art and Art History. As a child of what was then called the space age, he was torn between being an artist or a scientist. The computer satisfied both urges, and in 1983 he first began using computers to create images.
