Salt Lake City’s public art program solicited two-dimensional original work by Utah artists for this high profile outdoor “gallery.” The project provided an opportunity for painters, photographers and artists who work in other two-dimensional mediums to participate in the public art program, which typically provides more opportunities for sculptors. The program continued for two years, soliciting additional artists to participate so that the work on exhibit changes over time. McGarren Flack’s painting was purchased by the City for the permanent collection and is now located in the Salt Lake City’s Transportation Division’s offices.
